Australian-made vintage solid-state amplifier from Expo International’s Marrackville, NSW factory. Part of the “Pirate” stereo system that sold for $199 AUD in 1973 – an entry-level bookshelf system that included the TA-2200 amplifier/mixer, RP-419 turntable, and VT-36 cellular horn speakers.
The TA-2200 uses semiconductor amplification (transistor-based) and was featured in Electronics Today International (ETI) magazine in August 1973. Built in Australia during the golden age of local HiFi manufacturing, this piece represents a time when Aussie electronics companies were designing and building complete audio systems domestically.
Solid-state reliability in a compact wooden cabinet format. Requires external speakers and runs on AC mains. A piece of Australian audio history from an era when Expo International was competing with larger brands to bring HiFi into Australian homes.
This unit has been serviced and comes with 3 months warranty.
