The Nakamichi 582 was the top of the line deck of the 580 series. It comes with 3 heads – each dedicated to one function: play, record and erase. With 3 heads it is possible to directly monitor the quality of an active recording. Changes on record level or bias settings are immediately audible. The 582 conveniently provides access for bias adjustment from the front panel – seperately for each type of tape you want to use. It also has a built in 400 / 15 kHz test tone generator to do bias fine tuning.
The quality of the recording is outstanding. Even with a normal Type I tape it is difficult to hear a difference beteen a CD recording and an actual CD. It also shines with the playback of pre-recorded tapes. The Nakamichi heads of this class are like microscopes – getting the last bit out of every tape. Unseen from the decks of other manufacturers.
This deck is suitable for professional use for masterting / recording studios or an amazing pick for the demanding tape enthusiast.
